Still Beautiful and Functional After all These Years: Antique Wall Clocks

18 February 2010

I guess you have to learn how to love antiques because when I was younger I had zero interest in anything made earlier than the past few years. Then a funny thing began happening. I realized that most of the stuff being made nowadays simply didn’t stack up to what was made just in the last 30 years or so. What did this all mean? Well for me it meant getting rid of a large majority of my “new” stuff for much nicer “older” stuff. Take my collection of Antique Wall Clocks for example. Here are some of the most beautiful time pieces ever made and they still work; over 50 years later!

One of the most popular accessories for televisions

18 February 2010

One of the most popular accessories for televisions these days are flat screen TV stands. Flat screen television stands are made by a variety of manufactures and at a variety of price points. Certain things the end consumer should keep in mind when shopping for flat screen television stands is the color of the base and the stand. It’s important to match the color with the same color of the television. By making sure that your stand and the television itself match you will ensure that your home entertainment center is not only very functional but will be aesthetically pleasing as well.

Helping My Dad Out

17 February 2010

My dad called me a few days ago and told me that he needed me to come help him out with a project.  I asked him what was going on and he told me that my mom had gone away for a week, and he was transforming her kitchen into an old diner set up.  He even bought some old Counter Stools to set up, and he wanted me to help out with the arrangements.  I told him that I could come as soon as he needed me to, I just had to finish up some work first.  He told me not to hurry.

Checking Out Neighborhoods

16 February 2010

There are a lot of different neighborhoods around here with houses for sale. My husband and I have decided that maybe it’s time we moved out of an apartment and into our first house, so we have started to look. There’s one neighborhood that my husband really likes. He pointed out to me that all the houses have Raised Panel Garage Doors. I will admit that I hadn’t noticed, but now that he has pointed it out I agree that they look really nice. I like that neighborhood too, it’s quiet and has good schools. We’re going to look at the houses there that are for sale.

Happily moving in Houston

15 February 2010

When my husband took a new job in Houston last year, we were extremely worried about moving across the country. After all, we had only been married for a year, and had just finished combining two apartments into one house! What were we going to do? Well, my hubby ended up moving to Houston six months before I moved (I’m a teacher and I needed to finish up the school year) so we actually had to do two movers. Luckily, we were able to locate a great company of Houston movers who made the move painless and stress free for us. We’ve been in Houston for a year now and we couldn’t be happier!

Moving companies: I was wondering if how to choose a moving company?

14 February 2010

If you must move, this article is for you. Some companies you’ve hired stay very busy, and you want them to be able to give you their undivided attention. Sometimes I wonder if that is real. I can recommend free moving quotes. Hiring interstate companies you’ve hired should not be a task handled lightly. In some cases you can get moving quotes online. You can find interstate hauling companies with a decent rate. And another problem raises. In addition, Full Service hauling companies offer a range of packing services that vary as of the complete packing of the entire items in your home, to partial packing services. You probably already convinced….

go green with a waterless water heater

14 February 2010

if you want to do your part to go green, one thing you can do is switch over to a waterless water heater.  no, i’m not talking about not using water or taking ultrasonic showers like in star trek.  instead i’m talking about water heaters that don’t have a tank on them.  the water is heated up on demand inline through a series of coils.  the main advantage is that you never have water that needs to be kept hot, wasting energy the entire time.  instead, it’s only warmed up when needed.  it also means you’ll never run out of hot water even if you have a large family gathering and 7 people all need to take showers before church.

Bagless Vacuum Cleaners Bring Less Dust Into The Air

14 February 2010

Unfortunately there is no way to stop your vacuum cleaner from sweeping some dust and dirt into the air around it (it’s beating the carpet with that brush and most of it is sucked into the unit and stored but the air flow created often lets some out the front of the unit) the newer Bagless Vacuum Cleaners are at least trapping the dirt and dust it does capture inside the unit with incredible effectiveness. This means no redistributed dirt, dander, or pet hair in the air or around the carpet. The little bit of dirt that does escape is often grabbed in another pass and your carpet is much less dirty when your done.

What I Like About Summer Beside No Going To The Beach

14 February 2010

Speaking of summer, if there is one activity that I always love during summer, that is cooking barbeque. We all know that summer is filled with lots of barbeque plus some activity like picnics and going to the beach. Summer is indeed the season for family bonding and in my family, as the end of the month of May approaches; my father begins to prepare our backyard bbq grill and all the tools that is needed. This is the season where my friends and relatives held gatherings either on the beach or my grandmother’s house. My parents are going to buy a new bbq apron among the many types of bbq aprons in the market today.
