Out of pockets, try a leather satchel
24 February 2010
Commuting can be a real hassle if you’re a man. My biggest battle everyday is getting to work and still having everything I left with. Even filling every pocket, I generally run out of them and feel ridiculous with bulges at every corner. My wife suggested a briefcase, but the image of Ward Cleaver coming home and handing June his briefcase made me shudder. A few weeks ago I noticed a man carrying a leather satchel across his back. Not a dirty courier bag, but a really nice leather bag. Getting off the train a few days later I came to face to face with the exact same bag in a storefront window at the station. The next morning I bought one. Before the train arrived I emptied every pocket on me into the bag and barely filled one compartment. I don’t know how I lived without it.
