Creating for the Sake of Creation.
Are all creative endeavors worthwhile?
Should the stay-at-home mom work on a novel, with no ambition for publication? Should we deveop the ability to paint or draw pieces that are destined to collect dust in drawers or be disposed of with tomorow’s trash?
Intuitively, one would say that some creation is better than idleness. After all, it beats watching television right?
Probably.
But couldn’t it be much better? With some perspective on what is being accomplished, and on where the creative work can lead in terms of developped skills, possible purpose and value, couldn’t the same amount of work lead to much grander designs?
The Creative Lab teaches, and encourages readers to seek and find their passion, which is correlated with purpose. Instead of mere recreation, the same activity that is done intuitively, for the sake of creating or killing time, can in fact be an instrument for the accomplishement of one’s purpose.
It only needs to be considered from that perspective for doors to be opened and true adventures to begin.
